Celtic have already signed one highly-regarded talent from a Premier League giant recently. They have brought in Jahmai Simpson-Pusey from Manchester City. It is a straight loan deal without any clause to sign him in the future. So, that seems to suggest that the belief is that the 19-year-old centre-back can improve this squad immediately.
Centre-back is certainly an area worth strengthening this summer. Another one is their midfield. Celtic have been linked with a long list of defensive midfielders in recent times without making an addition in the middle of the park.
Yesterday, we noted how Tyler Morton, a player Celtic had been linked with, has departed Liverpool officially with the Hoops missing out once again. He is not the only one though. They seem to have their eyes on Stefan Bajcetic as well. And there might be better news in the race to sign him.
As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool’s new plan for Trey Nyoni could effectively confirm Bajcetic’s Anfield exit. Celtic are looking to sign him this summer. It feels like the midfielder's departure is a foregone conclusion, and the Hoops will be pleased that they look set to bring him in to bolster their ranks soon.
Liverpool player closing in on move to Celtic this summer
Bajcetic has played a decent bit of football for Liverpool at the senior level. But it just does not feel like he will ever become a first-team regular for them.
He spent last season on two loan spells. Firstly, he was at RB Salzburg. Then, he would spend the second half of the campaign at Las Palmas.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for him. Will he go out on loan again or be permanently transferred? We will find out soon. Expect Celtic to be in the mix.
