In the summer, we saw Kieran Tierney bring an end to his run in the Premier League and return to Celtic as a free agent. It was clearly a decision based on his love for the club more than anything else. After spending six years at Arsenal, and at 27 years of age, he could have easily remained in one of the top five leagues in Europe. In fact, clubs like Juventus were believed to be interested.
Tierney has faced some criticism since returning but nobody can deny that he is at Celtic because he wants to be here. Could we see a similar move next summer, perhaps even greater in magnitude?
Andy Robertson is a Liverpool legend, having been integral to their most successful era of the modern era. He has never made it a secret that he grew up supporting Celtic though and was even part of the club's youth ranks at one point in time.
Set to turn 32 next March, he is entering the final phase of his career. And it looks like the Scottish national team captain might be looking to finish where it all began.
Liverpool legend Andy Robertson makes decision on Celtic move
As reported by TEAMtalk, Robertson is open to a pre-contract agreement that would take him to Celtic. An insider said:
"He wants to give something back to Scottish football and finish where it all began."
Robertson is no longer as important to this Liverpool team as he once was. The Anfield club are clearly looking towards their future and it might be time for the Scottish captain to do the same.
Of course, one major question mark about Robertson joining Celtic would be regarding his place in the starting XI. The club already have Tierney at left-back. Would either of those two be happy to be the secondary option?
