Former Rangers star turned pundit Kris Boyd has been speaking about Celtic and this weekend's big Old Firm clash. Rangers and Celtic face off in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals at Ibrox on Sunday, and it's set up to be an intriguing tie, as ever.

Celtic have a 100% record in the Premiership so far, while Rangers have improved significiantly following a poor start that saw them miss out on Europe altogether, even dealing with a number of injury blows to pick up a big late win over St Mirren on Wednesday night.

Both sides are in good form, and the additional factor is that there will be no away fans inside Ibrox on Sunday, setting up a strange atmosphere, and the away fan exile will continue for all of the Old Firm fixtures this season.

Ahead of the Sunday, pundit Boyd has been speaking about Celtic's recruitment, questioning the timing of it, which is pretty fair following the Champions League exit.

“Have they brought in, did they bring a lot of players in at the right time?” he questioned on The Warm-up.

Speaking about Celtic's fast start and Sunday's cup game, Boyd added: “If Martin was to lose it as well, then Celtic fans will be, you know, because you’re back to a Champions League game and, yes, an unbelievable start in the league, but you’re knocked out a cup, then all of a sudden, you know, the negativity starts there again. The Celtic board will get it in the neck.”

Rangers go into the derby after a run of four straight wins following that forgettable European qualifier that saw them crash out.

“They’re definitely in a far better place than what they were after that European game,” Boyd added.

“If Derek can go and, you know, knock Celtic out the cup, then all of a sudden Rangers would be favourites to win, you know, a trophy. I’m going to say 2-1 Rangers.”
