Will we get to see Kieran Tierney back in a Celtic jersey very soon? That is a question a lot of fans have been pondering over in recent days since it emerged that Arsenal had decided against taking up the option to extend his contract by another twelve months. It means that he will become a free agent in the summer.

The transfer fee has always been viewed as the major stumbling block to Tierney returning to Celtic. Arsenal are believed to have shelled out around £25 million to sign him back in the summer of 2019.

With that hurdle seemingly soon to be out of the way, the chances of Tierney returning to Celtic have certainly increased. And it looks like the Scottish left-back himself is keen to make it happen, if speculation is indeed accurate.

Tierney might even be ready to reject other offers in order to help facilitate the move. As reported by Football Insider, Mick Brown said:

"I know a lot of clubs are interested in him, including in the Premier League, because there aren’t too many top-level left-backs available at the moment.

“But from what I hear, he’s very much in favour of a move back to Scotland and a return to Celtic and would snub other offers in favour of that move.

“So I think he might be the one driving that deal as much as anybody else."

Tierney grew up supporting Celtic. That is no secret. And it is very likely that playing in front of the Parkhead fans was the happiest phase of his career.

Having spent more than five years at a club like Arsenal, perhaps it is a return to Celtic that he now wants. At the end of the day, the career of a professional footballer is short and unfortunately, with the amount of injuries that Tierney has had to deal with over the years, you never know how much he has left in the tank.

Of course, there would be an element of risk involved in the move for Celtic as well. Namely, Tierney's injury history. But they simply cannot pass on the chance to sign a player of his quality on a free transfer.
