Celtic have been predicted to make 'at least four' new signings between now and the end of the summer. It has been a frustrating window for the Bhoys so far, but they have managed to bring in two new faces in Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran.
Martin O'Neill wants new signings aplenty, and he still has major needs, including a left-back, at least two midfielders, a winger and a goalkeeper. The Bhoys also likely need to replace Arne Engels and potentially Alistair Johnston at right-back.
Celtic's approaches have repeatedly fallen flat this summer, but they are going to have to ramp up their summer business if they want to be ready to compete for another title and play in Europe. And it would be preferable that some of the new signings are brought in before the Champions League qualifiers on August 18 and 25.
Work is ongoing to bring in new faces, and it appears as though Mika Baur and Gvidas Gineitis are the main options in midfield, while Fares Ghedjemis and Haissem Hassan are being eyed out wide, although the latter seems to have his eyes on another club.
Celtic backed to sign at least four more
According to Scottish Sun sport chief Roger Hannah, Celtic will still get at least four in before the end of the window. He said on the Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "I thought they’d have more business done, to be honest.
“No one’s going to be surprised when Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels go. Could they have Julian Araujo lined up to replace Alistair Johnston? They look as if they’ve got Mika Baur from Paderborn lined up to replace Arne Engels.
“I would imagine they would [both go], so the key is replacing them. They should’ve had a left-back in; I thought Saracchi would come back, to be perfectly honest. It doesn’t look as if that’s going to happen.
“I don’t know who the left-back is going to be. We spoke last week about the potential of Greg Taylor coming back, or whether they’ve got something else up their sleeve.
“But there is work needing to be done, there’s no question about that. I would still expect there’s a chance that Hatate could go as well, he’s on the bench, so he’ll need replaced as well.
“There’s a transfer window open, so Celtic will sign a winger. They always do! So there’s a lot of business still to be done. I would expect Celtic to sign at least four more.”
