Celtic now look as though they could miss out on one of their key winger targets. The Bhoys continue to endure a nightmare of a summer transfer window, having only managed to get two deals over the line at this stage.
Martin O'Neill wanted to land new recruits efficiently this summer, but the Bhoys have tripped and stumbled at almost every turn, and plenty of excuses have been made.
One position O'Neill is desperate to strengthen is the winger position, and it look sas though the Hoops have been dealt a fresh blow on that front.
Hassan prioritising specific club
Celtic target Haissem Hassan is now said to be prioritising a move to Ligue 1 club Marseille. It emerged earlier on Tuesday that Hassan had rejected a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia to prioritise a stay in Europe, and that seemed to be good news for Celtic.
But according to a French journalist named Nordine L’Instant on X, Hassan wants to join Marseille. The post read: "Haissem Hassan (Real Oviedo) has turned down offers from certain clubs and prioritizes OM.
"The Egyptian international and the Marseille club have reached an agreement after a few weeks of discussions. In the event of player sales on the OM side, the deal would be unblocked."
Hassan has a release clause worth £10.2million, but it has been reported that Oviedo will be willing to do business at around £8million, given they need to make some salary cap space to make new signings.
Celtic have not shown a willingness to pay the money Oviedo are looking for, and it does look as though Fares Ghedjemis is the new winger priority. But Hassan has clearly been seriously considered, and he could now be taken off the table.
Having said that, Marseille are not in a position to do a deal yet, it's just likely Hassan will want more money to give up on his French dream, and Celtic have hardly been willing to pay over the odds this summer.
