Celtic striker Johnny Kenny is loving life on loan at Bolton Wanderers, and has now earned a rave review from his manager.

After struggling to get started at the Hoops this season, Kenny was sent out to the English Championship in January. Kenny has been involved in eight goals in nine starts, which is an impressive record for just a few months.

His side have been fighting for automatic promotion, but after a 3-3 draw with Huddersfield Town at the weekend, they are out of the running for that, and will instead be focusing on the play-offs.

Kenny has been a massive help in their league push, and his manager, Steven Schumacher, couldn't be happier.

Speaking after their last game, Schumacher said: "Johnny Kenny with another great finish. Johnny strikes the ball so clean when he hits it, and he can hit it that hard off both feet.

"When we do finishing sessions, I am really impressed with when he hits it right, and how hard it goes.

"It’s a good bit of play from us, actually. Nice little build-up – when it came to Johnny, a centre forward, there is only one thing on his mind: to try and hit the target. He does. It goes through the goalkeeper. It gives us a lifeline."

Will Kenny prove himself at Celtic?

Kenny has expressed that he dreams of playing for Celtic regularly. Speaking last month, he said: "I love it up there. The pressure, it’s a privilege to go out and be expected to win. People are going to talk no matter what job you’re doing. Some are going to try and be negative, but it doesn’t really affect me.

"You just have to get on with it. It’s easy to talk, isn’t it? There’s a reason we go on the pitch. I’m not on Twitter, so I don’t see any of it. What I don’t see can’t affect me.

"I think I’m pretty laid back. It’s the same as being on the pitch back in Riverstown. It is intense, but that’s what comes with playing with a big club."

With a new manager coming through the door very soon, Kenny could get his chance. The club are already looking at other options to bring in, but surely the Irishman will be given the chance, at least in pre-season.

Apparently, Celtic are willing to let Kenny leave, so if he falls out of favour again, he could move on. He may opt to go down south again, and the Hoops could get a decent fee for him, considering he is contracted to the club until the summer of 2029.
