Even though Celtic are closing in on another treble, the team could look very different come next season. There are a number of players who do not seem to have a future at Parkhead. On the other hand, there are also those whose time at the club might be coming to a natural end, having spent several seasons and won everything possible in a green-and-white jersey.
A number of players signed during the Ange Postecoglou, might be starting to seek their next challenge. And one of those players might very well be Reo Hatate.
Not too long ago, Hatate was considered Celtic's most Premier League-ready player. Admittedly, others have moved ahead of him since then, as he has struggled with both fitness issues and lack of consistency over the last few years.
Hatate remains a player in demand though. And it looks like quite a few exit routes might be open to the Japanese midfielder in the summer, if he decides that the time has come for him to change teams.
Italian club weighing up big offer for Celtic superstar
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Udinese have scouted Hatate and are weighing up a big-money summer move for the Celtic midfielder. French and German clubs are also thought to be keen on the 27-year-old.
There is still a decent bit left on Hatate's contract at Celtic though. So, any club trying to sign him might need to pay a significant fee for the Japanese international midfielder's signature.
It remains to be seen how things play out over the course of the summer transfer window. Hatate is certainly someone who could be on his way out, having joined Celtic in early 2022. That being said, you never know. If the right offer does not come in, he might stay. Also, one cannot forget that 2026 is the World Cup year, so a move right now might be risky.
Hatate should know that well, having seen Kyogo struggle for game time at Rennes, which has clearly hurt his chances of being picked for the next World Cup. Will the midfielder be open to taking that risk or want to stay at Celtic, where he knows he has a consistent starting role?
It is also worth pointing out that Celtic have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent months. That might also point towards a Hatate exit in the summer.
