Celtic are looking to sign a number of players in multiple positions right now. We have seen them being linked with a number of players, and more names could be added to that list. One player who is already on their transfer wishlist is Giuseppe Ambrosino of Napoli. And it looks like there is some good news for the Hoops in that regard.
Napoli have one of the top strikers in world football in the form of Romelu Lukaku. Thus, it was already very difficult for Ambrosino to carve out any playing time in Antonio Conte's plans. And now, it has gotten even tougher.
That is because Napoli are on the verge of signing another big-money striker this summer. It has even gotten the famous 'here we go' from Fabrizio Romano.
As reported by Romano, there is a verbal agreement in place with Udinese for Lorenzo Lucca to Napoli. The package confirmed is €9m loan fee and a €26m obligation to buy clause with add-ons. The Italian striker will sign a five-year deal later this week.
'Here we go' - Fabrizio Romano drops Napoli news Celtic will love
Napoli were being linked with a move for Darwin Nunez of Liverpool. But it looks like that is now off the table and they are ready to sign Lucca.
Of course, the addition of another striker means it is as good as game over for Ambrosino and his chances of making it at Napoli. There had been rumours that Antonio Conte wanted to have a look at him in pre-season before making a decision. But there might not be much of a point.
Ambrosino is expected to depart this summer. There are Italian clubs who want him. But this move opens up a window of opportunity for Celtic as well, to swoop in.
