Brendan Rodgers' second stint as Celtic manager had a shaky start but it is safe to say that the club is now in a great position. Another domestic treble seems to be on the cards for the Hoops. On the other hand, they are also coming off their best ever Champions League run in over a decade and narrowly missed out on a last 16 spot, losing to Bayern Munich on aggregate over two legs.
In the past, Rodgers had struggled to make his mark at the Champions League level. This time around, he has finally proved the critics wrong though and delivered in Europe, winning against RB Leipzig and taking Bayern Munich to their absolute limit in their own backyard.
Of course, that must have caught the eye of plenty of clubs around Europe. Could Rodgers be a manager in demand soon?
Rodgers' current deal runs until the summer of 2026 and he has always maintained that he wants to see it out this time, having left in the middle of the 2018/19 campaign in his first stint. But what does the future hold for the Northern Irishman beyond that?
'He’d love to' - Brendan Rodgers tipped to leave Celtic
Keith Wyness has tipped Rodgers for a big move in the future. As reported by Football Insider, the former Aberdeen chief said:
"Brendan has finally shown that he can mix it with the big boys at Celtic.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to about him, right the way back to his time with Liverpool, has such a high regard for him and his football intellect.
“It’s always surprised me that he’s not come to the top. Everyone says he’s very bright, very hardworking and innovative.
“People in football have always had a high opinion of him, but that hasn’t matched his level of success.
“He was harshly treated at Liverpool and didn’t go on to great success elsewhere.
“He’s still got time and I think his next appointment could be the one. I think other clubs will be looking at him now.
“Clubs like Bayern Munich, who have fallen down the ladder a bit, could even look at someone like him.
“I think he’d love to move on from Celtic now if he gets a bigger offer."
Of course, if clubs like Bayern Munich come calling for Rodgers, one would expect him to pick up the phone. That being said, it is hard to imagine that the Bundesliga giants, or a club of that level, would have their eyes on the Celtic boss.
Never say never though. Incidentally, Bayern Munich are a great example as they recently appointed Vincent Kompany as their manager even after he failed to avoid Premier League relegation with Burnley last season.
