More details have emerged surrounding the terms of Celtic's signing of Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo.
The Bhoys signed Egypt World Cup star Hassan on a deal worth an initial £6million a couple of weeks ago, but the deal also included a further £3million in bonuses. It was already known that Villarreal would get as much as 40% of the fee due to holding a sell-on clause in the agreement, and that also includes the bonus payments.
But when will the next bonus payment be due, and what other clauses do we know about.
Haissem Hassan transfer details emerge
According to La Nueva España, among the £3million bonuses agreed was a €300,000 (£256.585) payment upon qualification for the league phase of the Champions League.
That will have to be paid if Celtic progress against LASK on Tuesday night, already carrying a three-goal lead, and of that money, Oviedo will receive €180,000 (£153,947), with Villarreal receiving the rest.
That part is not surprising, but it is surprising that Celtic also agreed to a 20% sell-on fee in the signing, which will bag Oviedo further cash when the winger eventually leaves the club, providing he leaves for a fee. Villarreal will not be entitled to any of that money.
Hassan has only played a small part for Celtic so far, coming off the bench twice, but he had a late start to pre-season due to the World Cup, and he is still regaining full match sharpness.
In any case, he is not close to displacing the in-form Camilo Duran from the team, with the striker currently playing - and doing well - as a right-winger.
