Celtic did not have to deal with a cup upset, as they cruised past Raith Rovers. The visitors were not able to keep the Hoops at bay for long as Daizen Maeda scored in the 6th minute and ended up making a great case for himself to be the main striker by scoring a hattrick. The other two goals were scored by Luke McCowan and Hyun-jun Yang.

Celtic are setting a bit of a trend when it comes to bringing back familiar faces. It started with Brendan Rodgers' return in the summer of 2023, far sooner than anybody could have expected after the circumstances surrounding his exit to Leicester City.

Then this winter, Jota returned to Celtic Park, merely 18 months after leaving in a Scottish record move. And Kieran Tierney is set to return next summer, having agreed a pre-contract with the club.

There was a familiar face in attendance at Celtic Park as the Hoops cruised past Raith Rovers. It was Kristoffer Ajer.

That has led to many fans questioning whether Ajer could be the next one to return to Celtic. He left the club in the summer of 2021 to join Brentford in the Premier League.

When it comes to a potential return, bringing back Ajer will be very difficult. That is because he has a long-term contract still and one would not expect the Hoops to shell out a significant fee to sign a player from the Premier League.

Never say never though. Perhaps at some point in the future, Ajer could consider the idea of a return to Celtic. There are plenty others who seem to be making that trip back to Glasgow, that is for sure. It looks like the grass is not greener on the other side after all.
