This summer transfer window has been a pretty active one for Celtic. They have made plenty of additions already and more could be on the way. On the other hand, a lot has happened when it comes to their former players. Jeremie Frimpong has moved to Liverpool. The likes of Matt O'Riley, Oh Hyeon-gyu and Alexandro Bernabei have been linked with high-profile moves as well.
Now, it might be time to add another name to that list. One that could end up having an effect on Liverpool once again.
We are talking about none other than Ben Doak, who left Celtic after making just two appearances for the club in order to join Liverpool. He has played a handful of games for the Reds as well but there are question marks regarding his long-term future at Anfield. Could he be involved in a blockbuster swap deal this summer?
As reported by The Sun, Liverpol are ready to include Ben Doak into a swap deal for Marc Guehi. Crystal Palace are looking for a fee in the region of £50m for the England international.
Former Celtic player could be involved in blockbuster swap deal
Of course, many Celtic fans will point out how Doak has failed to make the grade at Liverpool and perhaps would have been better placed if he stayed on at Parkhead. But then, there is another way of viewing the situation.
It looks unlikely that things will work out for Doak at Anfield. But the move to Liverpool has certainly raised his profile. He is expected to remain in the Premier League, if or when he departs.
Let's see what the future holds for Doak. For Celtic, the problem still remains. They have struggled to bring through youth standouts into the senior team, causing them to leave early rather than wait for their chance.
