Not many fans would have expected Celtic to show the kind of urgency that they have in this summer transfer window. So far, they have been one of the most active teams in Europe, having already brought in four new players. And it looks like two more additions are on the verge of being completed over the coming days.
One of them is Callum Osmand. The Fulham youth standout was nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season and if his development goes according to plan, he could be a solid long-term addition to this Celtic team.
On the other hand, it appears that Celtic are very close to strengthening their defensive department as well. For a while, they have been searching for some stability in the left side of the centre-back duo. Have they finally found their man?
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are closing in on the signing of Albirex Niigata centre-back Hayato Inamura. The 23-year-old J-League talent is due to arrive in the UK this week to undergo a medical and finalise the paperwork on his move.
'Closing in' - Anthony Joseph drops fantastic Celtic news
Celtic have a great record when it comes to recruiting players from the J-League. They have brought in the likes of Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi in recent times, who will most likely be viewed as club legends in the future.
Of course, it would be a mistake to put Inamura in that bracket. When Hatate, Maeda and Kyogo were signed, they were already some of the best players in the J-League. The same cannot be said about the centre-back, who is a rising talent at best.
Let's see what the future holds for Celtic and Inamura. Is he someone who will come in and become a starter immediately? Or will he end up on the bench?
