Celtic were nowhere near their best against Kilmarnock and it looked like they were going to drop points on the day. Thankfully, they were able to win a late penalty and then Kelechi Iheanacho converted from the spot on his debut. The Nigerian striker deserves a ton of credit for holding his nerve in that situation.

The result means that Celtic are now nine points ahead of the Rangers. They did what they needed to do, and that was win at Rugby Park.

That being said, one cannot overlook some of the issues that Celtic are facing at the moment. We have done for far too long, and that might be one of the reasons why the squad are in this position today.

Kieran Tierney's performances since coming back have not met expectations. When the move was announced, most had assumed that his introduction would mean an automatic upgrade at left-back and he'd immediately be one of the best in Scotland. We are not exactly sure that has been the case though.

Tierney has seemed to struggle with playing past the hour mark. And his performance against Kilmarnock came under a lot of criticism. One Celtic wrote: "Dare i say it Tierney is finished."

Another wrote: "Tierney looks like he is done now."

One more fan went on to add: "Tierney is done. Said it in January when he looked as if he was coming back."

At the end of the day, one cannot overlook the number of injuries that Tierney has dealt with over the years. We all know he is a phenomenal player at his best. But is he even capable of reaching those levels anymore?

Unfortunately, life is not like a video game where injuries do not have any long-term effects on players. Tierney might only be 28 years of age but his best might already be behind him as a result of all the injuries he has suffered over the course of his career.
