Celtic transfer target Fares Ghedjemis' agent has finally spoken out about why the player didn't make the move to Glasgow in January, confirming what supporters expected.

The agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, said to Tuttomercatoweb:

"The renewal? It was an option already present in the contract signed with Frosinone that it was their right to exercise. The market rumours about him in January? He really wanted to finish the season with a promotion. "

Looking ahead to the summer, Ferrari said:

"This was the boy’s intention, with Frosinone then potentially monetising the operation in the summer."

The Hoops were hoping to bring Ghedjemis to the club after wingers were underperforming in the first half of the campaign. The interest in the player was reported by a lot of media outlets, and it seemed as though he may be on his way to Parkhead, but the deal fell through due to the player having a change of heart.

Ghedjemis chose to remain at Italian side Frosinone, and instead, the Celts went for Joel Mvuka, who has unfortunately not enjoyed his start to life in Scotland. With the player likely to return to his parent club in the summer, Celtic could re-enter the market for their original target.

However, if the Scottish Premiership side were to come back in for the winger, they wouldn't be without competition. Serie A sides are reportedly interested in the player, so he may choose to stay closer to home.

Celtic will look to bring players in

We can hope that Celtic will look to bring a lot of players in at the start of next season. Scouting is allegedly already ongoing, and hopefully, we have a manager in mind to replace the outgoing Martin O'Neill.

O'Neill has done a brilliant job since joining the Hoops, taking over from Brendan Rodgers originally and coming back to steady the ship after Wilfried Nancy's tenure. Robbie Keane and Jens Berthel Askou are allegedly leading the race for the Parkhead dugout, but it is yet to be seen who will be in the job next season.

We have our fingers crossed that the next manager will be backed by the board, because that certainly wasn't the case under Rodgers. He often spoke out about it, and former women's team manager Elena Sadiku also hinted at a lack of funding. Let's hope that something changes, whether it's a transfer method or the board members.
