While the Rangers continue to search for their fifth manager in four years, Celtic's long-term future in the managerial department is not set in stone either. Brendan Rodgers has had his fair share of critics during his second spell at Parkhead, largely because of the style of football that the team are playing at the moment. And with his contract running out at the end of this season, there is an opportunity for a parting of ways.
Someone with Rodgers' track record would not have a tough time landing a job in the Premier League. He has always maintained that he will see out his contract with Celtic at the very least. But what will happen after that?
Considering how the recent summer transfer window turned out, it is hard to imagine that the manager would have been happy with the lack of ambition shown. Could that push him towards the exit door?
Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the situation of Rodgers, amid the uncertainty around his future at Parkhead. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said:
"There are clubs interested in Rodgers, so an exit in summer 2026 is a possibility. But not a guarantee yet. Celtic will try their best to keep him."
Fabrizio Romano drops Brendan Rodgers Celtic exit update
That is certainly an interesting update, the suggestion that Celtic will do their best to keep Rodgers. To be very honest, many fans feel that the club might be very open to the idea of his exit as well.
Now let's be very honest, Rodgers has not been dealt the best hand at any point during his second stint at the club. That being said, despite that, it feels like he could and should have achieved a bit more with this team, at least in the domestic circuit.
Of course, he did brilliantly in the Champions League last season, getting past the opening round for the first time in more than a decade. But then, they have taken a step back this season.
