Celtic have already signed a winger this winter in the form of Jota. The Portuguese ace had left the club just 18 months earlier to join Al-Ittihad. It did not work out there and was followed by a switch to Rennes last summer. Once again, he struggled and now, finds himself back in Glasgow, hoping to bring his career back on track.

Yes, there had been talks about a potential move for Jota in the Celtic rumour mill for the past several weeks when it became clear that he was struggling at Rennes. But for a long time, that had looked like mere speculation as there were other wingers the club were more heavily linked with.

One of them was Bazoumana Toure. The youngster had impressed immensely at Hammarby and Celtic were believed to be one of a number of European clubs keeping an eye on him.

The Toure to Celtic rumours did start to fade away recently though. And now, it looks like he is headed to Germany.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Hoffenheim are closing in on a deal for Toure from Hammarby IF. Proposal worth €14 million sent and talks advanced.

One has to wonder whether Celtic's interest in signing Toure waned because they were ready to bring in Jota or whether it was because they were not willing to shell out that kind of a transfer fee for a player of his experience. Of course, it is very possible that the club had never seriously considered a move in the first place.

The focus has to be on Jota now. Hopefully, he picks up right where he left off and is immediately an important member of this Celtic team once again. We all know what he is capable of at his best but this is a new system.
