Kyogo has left Celtic to join Rennes after scoring 85 goals in his three-and-a-half year spell in Glasgow. There is a theory that the club could use Daizen Maeda as his replacement while Jota slots into the left flank. But most fans would want to see the Hoops go out and sign another striker this winter. Brighton & Hove Albion's Evan Ferguson is someone who has been continuously suggested as a possible option.

After a fast start in England that saw him being hailed as the next £100 million striker, he has found the going tough in recent times. It is important to remember though that he is still just 20 years of age. And as reported by TBR Football, Celtic are keen to land Ferguson.

Ferguson could do with a spell away from Brighton & Hove Albion. While Celtic won't have any chance of signing him on a permanent basis, a six-month loan stint at Parkhead might be just what he needs to rediscover his confidence.

He would get plenty of chances to score goals, win trophies and even play in the Champions League knockout phase. But it looks like Celtic have a couple of obstacles on the way to any potential deal for Ferguson.

Celtic want to sign Evan Ferguson but handed double blow

As reported by the Daily Record, speaking after the defeat to Everton on Saturday, Brighton & Hove Albion boss, Fabian Hurzeler said about Ferguson:

"He's injured. I can't say anything about that at the moment. When I see him he's in good spirit, but, of course, injuries don't help your mood and your shape, so not only physically or mentally it's a hard time for him, but I'm sure he'll get through it."

Also, it looks like Brighton & Hove Albion might be keen for their players to remain in the Premier League. Earlier this month, Hurzeler said:

"This decision should be what is best for the player and for the club. We went Buonanotte, for example, to Leicester. We know that the Premier League is a very good league to improve, because it’s tough, it’s intense, especially for young players. It’s the perfect environment to adapt.

"In the end, they want to play for Brighton and we want them to play for Brighton. So, when they improve in the environment of the league where we are also playing, it’s always very helpful. So, that’s why I am not thinking about making the other teams better, it’s more about what is best for the player."

So, this does not combine to boost Celtic's chances of potentially signing Ferguson on a loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion. Of course, nothing should ever be ruled out in football but the chances seem slim at best.

Ferguson is not the only forward Celtic have been linked with either. Mathias Kvistgaarden of Brondby is also someone that the Hoops are believed to be keeping an eye on despite failing to sign him on more than one occasion in the past.
