A lot of cards seem to be in play at the same time when it comes to Celtic, heading into the summer transfer window. A number of the club's players have been linked with moves away from Parkhead. On the other hand, the Hoops are expected to make quite a few additions as well, as they look to strengthen Brendan Rodgers' squad.

Also, some eyes will be on former players as they could hand windfalls to Celtic by making moves, in cases where they hold sell-on clauses. Two such names are Jeremie Frimpong and Alexandro Bernabei.

Bernabei has been linked with a move to Sevilla recently. But it is Frimpong that most eyes are on, as he looks almost certain to make a big-money move this summer, having been at Bayer Leverkusen, who signed him from Celtic for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £11 million, since early 2021.

There is some mixed news regarding the Dutchman when it comes to Celtic though. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Frimpong could be Trent Alexander-Arnold ’s replacement at Liverpool, as he has €35m release clause.

It has been confirmed that Trent will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season as a free agent. It is not hard to see why the club might be eyeing someone like Frimpong as his replacement, as he has a lot of similarities in playing style.

This is good news for Celtic and increases their chances of landing a windfall. But it is not all positive regarding this update.

It look like the release clause for Frimpong is set at €35 million. That is quite a bit lower than previously reported numbers, which had set it at around €40 million.

Rumours suggest that the sell-on clause for Celtic could be as high as 30 percent. That means that Celtic could end up receiving about €1.5 million less than what the fans would have been expecting from a Frimpong transfer this summer.
