Over the past few weeks, there has not been much for Celtic fans to be happy about. They saw the side get eliminated from the Champions League qualifying process once again. That was followed up by a terrible end to the summer transfer window. And the aftermath has led to the supporters wanting changes at the board level. It remains to be seen if anything substantial will happen or not.

One of the major worries coming out of the transfer window has been whether it will convince Brendan Rodgers to walk out of Celtic once again. In late August, it was reported by The Sun that the Northern Irishman was Nottingham Forest’s top target when they made their move for a new boss.

Well, Nottingham Forest have parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, as had been expected. But it is not Rodgers that they are going to be appointing as their new manager. That news will come as relief to Celtic fans. At the same time, their next head coach does have a Celtic connection as well.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new Nottingham Forest head coach. The contract has now been approved by both sides as the Australian will sign a deal until June 2027.

Of course, that means that Rodgers is not heading to Nottingham Forest, it is a relief for Celtic. The last thing they need right now is the manager leaving in the middle of the season.

On the other hand, Celtic fans will be happy to see Postecoglou back in the game. The Australian remains a fan favourite at Parkhead and we wish him all the best at Nottingham Forest.

We do believe that Celtic and Rodgers parting ways next summer would be the right step though. Both sides need a refresh. The second stint clearly has not gone as well as most fans would have expected.
