There is a ton of talk around the managerial situation at Celtic at the moment, but the upcoming January transfer window could prove to be a monumental one for the club as well. There is a need to rebuild a team that has stagnated over time. One could argue that it was the case throughout the Brendan Rodgers era, as the Hoops seldom played an enjoyable brand of football.
On top of that, they have a mountain of injury problems to deal with as well. Key players are out with long-term injuries and have undergone surgeries.
Martin O'Neill might have been able to get a tune out of them for two or three games, but it is not sustainable. Some ambitious additions need to made in the January transfer window.
On the other hand, a Celtic superstar could be on his way out in what would be a blockbuster exit. The player we are talking about is none other than Daizen Maeda. And now, Fabrizio Romano has given his take on the matter.
Fabrizio Romano confirms blockbuster Celtic transfer could happen in January
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Romano wrote about how likely a scenario that sees Maeda leave Celtic in January is:
"It’s a possibility yes, but let’s wait for the coach stuff to be sorted first"
Of course, the coaching situation is the main story at Celtic right now. It has been weeks since Rodgers left and a permanent solution has not been found.
That being said, no matter who is appointed as the new manager, it is hard to imagine that it will be enough to change Maeda's mind. He wanted to leave in the summer as well but that was blocked.
There have been suggestions that he is eager to finally complete a move away from Celtic in January. And to be honest, it might be the right timing to do that.
