At the moment, Celtic fans are dissatisfied with the club. As a result, the board finds itself in a situation where it cannot put a foot right, in the eyes of the supporters at least. And their post from this evening, and the reaction of the fanbase to it, is just a prime example of how the mood around Parkhead dictates how each and every step is viewed.
We are quickly heading towards December. For many, the festive mood is already upon us. And the Celtic Christmas advert is one that the fans always look forward to every year.
It has not been released so far this year. But the club put out a post teasing it earlier this evening. It did not go down well with the supporters though.
It is very clear that the fans have a clear priority list of things to do at this point in time as the club trails Hearts in the title race. And the Christmas advert is not on top of that.
Celtic fans unhappy with the club's post this evening
It has been weeks since Brendan Rodgers left the club in the middle of the season, for the second time in his career. But so far, the Hoops have not been able to bring in a replacement.
Many had hoped that the search would be complete during this international break. But that has not been the case. A large section of the fanbase would be happy to continue with Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney for the time being, on the back of some very good results.
But then, there is a section of the support that believes that a permanent manager needs to be appointed as soon as possible. As one fan wrote: "You want to hurry up and announce a new manager and not Nancy."
It was not a solitary comment either. There were plenty in the comments asking the new permanent manager to be appointed. But then again, there is something to be said about sticking with O'Neill until the Scottish League Cup final at least.
It is a chance to win a trophy. And to be honest, seeing O'Neill lift one with Celtic for one last time would be special. It is not just the emotional factor at play here though.
Let's say Celtic end up appointing a new manager, whether it be Wilfried Nancy or somebody else. There is a chance that things could go wrong, or at least take some time to fall into place. Would it be wise to make that change so close to the League Cup final, and not to forget, the home against Hearts a week before that?
