Right now, Celtic do not seem to be doing much when it comes to making some quick additions to Brendan Rodgers' side. There does not appear to be much urgency on the part of the Hoops to get deals done before the Champions League qualifier play-off against Kairat Almaty. Perhaps that has always been the plan.
There has been more excitement following some of the club's former players this summer. Both Jeremie Frimpong and Kyogo have already made moves, joining Liverpool and Birmingham City, respectively. On the other hand, it looks like Odsonne Edouard could be on the move as well, with things never really working out for him at Crystal Palace since leaving Celtic in the summer of 2021.
Now, it appears that things might be picking up pace for Matt O'Riley as well. It was just last summer that he moved to Brighton & Hove Albion.
O'Riley suffered an injury at the start of the season though and as a result, had a tough time getting into the team. But he did impress when he got some chances towards the end of the campaign. And that seems to have been enough to catch the eye of Juventus.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Celtic hero keen to join European giants
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, O’Riley is keen on a Juventus move after talks took place to ask for deal conditions. Juve are considering a loan with an obligation deal, but only if or when a midfielder, Douglas Luiz, leaves.
It remains to be seen if everything falls into place for O'Riley to make the move to Juventus. It would certainly be a big step for his career, and one that not many would have predicted after his shaky debut campaign with Brighton.
O'Riley made just 23 appearances for Brighton last season. He did have meaningful contributions in wins against Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, though. The talent is quite clearly there. It always has been. Celtic fans will know that better than most. He just needs the right platform and to remain injury-free.
Is the Premier League that platform or the Serie A? Throughout the summer, he has been linked with a number of Italian clubs. AS Roma, Atalanta and Napoli have all been suggested as potential destinations for the Danish international. Let's see if Juventus are the ones who ultimately come out on top in the race for his signature.
