Throughout the summer transfer window, there have been reports about Celtic making offers. But unfortunately, they have not been able to get many deals over the line. At least significant ones. Other than Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren, no other first-team-ready players appear to have been brought in. And about £3 million has been spent on transfer fees, while the Hoops have received significantly more from exits and sell-on clauses.

The biggest need of the hour for Celtic is signing another winger. Nicolas Kuhn and Luis Palma have departed, while Jota is out injured for the rest of the year, and potentially beyond that.

As a result, despite Daizen Maeda's brilliant performances as a centre-forward, he is now back to playing on the wing. And even though Adam Idah is struggling to make much of an impression as the starting number 9, Brendan Rodgers does not really have any other option to pick from. Of course, it is possible that the likes of Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand exceed all expectations, but very unlikely.

So, additions are needed on both flanks, and at the very least, on the right. And as reported by HLN (via Sport Witness), Celtic have made an offer for Michel-Ange Balikwisha but it’s short of Royal Antwerp's valuation. The Belgian club paid €5.5m to sign the winger from Standard Liege in 2021 and intend to recoup a large part of that in this window.

This has been the story of Celtic's summer transfer window. They seem to be making plenty of offers, but never really meeting the valuation that the other club have set for their talents.

It feels as if Celtic are looking to 'win' every deal. And as a result, they are not even completing any. That needs to change, as soon as possible.

Then again, this has been an issue for Celtic for years now and not much has changed. So, let's just hope for the best and wait for the club to make a few additions before the transfer window closes a few weeks later.
