While Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah combined to score 53 goals for Celtic in the 24/25 season, there is a feeling that the club need to bring in another out-and-out goalscorer this summer. The Japanese forward's goalscoring touch deserted him in the last few games of the campaign, including a costly miss in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen. On the other hand, the Irishman's form has always been hot and cold.
So, Celtic are expected to keep an eye out for another striker in this summer transfer window. And it looks like they are leaving no stone unturned in this regard, with a recent scouting mission coming in the Dutch second division.
The player we are talking about is Youssef El Kachati. The 25-year-old Moroccan forward currently plays for Telstar in the Netherlands and has enjoyed a great season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 23 goals and provided 6 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
Celtic are scouting El Kachati at the moment. As reported by ESPN.nl, Hans Kraay Jr said:
"Celtic is also in the stands for him. I know that for sure."
ESPN confirm Celtic interest in signing 23-goal forward
Celtic are not the only clubs looking to sign the forward either. He is also believed to be on the radar of German clubs like Schalke and Hannover. So, it will be interesting to see where he ends up this summer.
The most interesting thing about El Kachati is that he will be out of contract this summer. So, Celtic would not have to pay a transfer fee to sign an in-form striker. It does not get better than that.
Of course, questions will be raised about El Kachati's ability to deliver at the top level. He has proven himself as a goalscorer but all of his success has come in the lower divisions in the Netherlands.
