It has now been more than a week since Brendan Rodgers decided to quit as Celtic manager. Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney were brought in to take interim charge of the team and it feels like it has been a roller-coaster ride since then. The win over the Rangers led to calls to hand them the job until the end of the season. But the one-sided defeat against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League has turned the narrative again.

Where do we stand right now? That is unclear. It is also not clear who Celtic will try to bring in as their next manager.

Several names they were linked with early on have been ruled out from the running. The likes of Ange Postecoglou, Craig Bellamy and a few others do not seem to be interested, for one reason or another. And now, it might be time to add another name to that list.

Nicky Hayen of Club Brugge has been linked with the Celtic job. But after the fantastic job he has done in Belgium and at the European level, he might have his sights set higher than the Scottish Premiership. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Mark Guidi said while speaking on the Go Radio Football Show:

"But I’m kind of thinking with him, he’s got such a really good CV and then you look at the result the other night, he might be, with the greatest respect, better than Scottish football now.

“I think he’s looking at England or La Liga or something for his next job. I think he’s gone beyond that."

It would not be a surprise if Hayen is indeed eyeing a move to the Premier League or La Liga. And to be honest, he might not have a tough time getting one.

He has truly been phenomenal at Club Brugge, exceeding all expectations. Their last result was a 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona.

Now, let's see if the prediction ends up coming true or not. But if you ask us, it is somewhat unlikely that Hayen will end up as the next Celtic manager. Never say never though.
