Just when things started to look bright for Celtic, clouds came rushing over Parkhead again. Martin O'Neill's winning run ended with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of FC Midtjylland in the Europa League this week. In the aftermath, question marks have been raised about his future in the dugout as well as the need to make a permanent appointment soon.
On the other hand, Celtic were handed more injury problems on the night. In their previous Europa League outing against Sturm Graz, three players got injured in the form of Kelechi Iheanacho, Alistair Johnston and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Against FC Midtjylland, a couple more names were added to that list. Arne Engels' issue might not be that serious. At least one would hope so. But on the other hand, there could be bad news on the horizon when it comes to Callum Osmand.
Osmand had looked so lively in the past few games, even scoring against the Rangers at Hampden Park. But unfortunately, just when he was finding his feet in the senior game, he looks set for a spell on the sidelines due to injury. As reported by The Celtic Way, O'Neill said about his status:
"Yeah, he's gone for a scan this morning and we haven't got any news back yet as we speak but it doesn't look good."
'Doesn't look good' - Martin O'Neill drops Celtic injury news
Osmand had certainly caught the eye of the fans with his displays in recent games, and many were wondering why Brendan Rodgers did not give him a bigger role in the team. The injury comes at the worst possible time for the youngster.
We can only hope that this turns out to be a matter of a few weeks instead of months. We wish Osmand the best of luck in his recovery. Hopefully, we will see him back on the pitch very soon.
On the other hand, it is also important to focus on the upcoming games as Celtic cannot afford any further slip-ups. Their next one is against Kilmarnock this weekend.
