Rangers manager Danny Rohl has spoken out about his club's fans being denied tickets for the derby vs Celtic. The Gers refused an allocation after the Hoops asked that fans involved in the terrible scenes at Ibrox were not given a ticket.
They reached out to the SPFL for a resolution, but there is no conclusion yet. Rohl was asked about the situation on Friday, and he hopes that it can be resolved.
He said via The Scottish Sun: "We of course, we hope to have more supporters with us.
"I think, generally, such a game should be always with great supporters from both sides. I think it makes the football really exciting.
"That’s the reason why we love to support them. But it’s not my job to decide this.
"I can just cross my fingers and hope that everything goes well in our direction as well."
Rohl's comments come just days after Ally McCoist's latest meltdown over the situation. He labelled Celtic a 'disgrace' and called their decision 'embarrassing' in his unhinged statement.
Fan ban is unlikely to be resolved
Although Rangers fans are hoping that they will be let into Parkhead, it seems increasingly unlikely by the day. If the SPFL didn't act when fans were locked out of both grounds for years, then they probably won't step in now.
Celtic have every right to lock out their supporters. Last time, masked fans took to the pitch and assaulted a Hoops staff member, throwing flares at supporters. We asked them to ensure that none of these people, simply put, troublemakers, were let into the ground, and they refused to do that. Those are simple terms, so you can't blame the Hoops for wanting to avoid a repeat of the Ibrox incident this time around.
At the same time, you can understand their frustration. This is one of the biggest and most important derbies in recent times, with it potentially being a title decider, and having a stadium full of our fans is an unreal advantage.
With the Green Brigade ultras back, the atmosphere will be unreal. Everyone will be fired up and ready to back the team for the entire 90 minutes. All eyes will be on that fixture, and players will be looking to impress against Hibernian this weekend to ensure that they have a chance of playing on May 10. We need to field our best team, and if our players can keep their form up, we could be in for an exciting time.
