Former Rangers boss Danny Rohl could be set to grab a slice of Celtic revenge by snapping up a player heavily linked with the Bhoys.
These days, Rohl is in charge of RB Salzburg in Austria, leaving Rangers after just one season, overseeing a collapse in the title race. The former Sheffield Wednesday boss has spoken as though he caused Celtic all sorts of problems in the title race, but the Gers finished 10 points adrift by the end of the season.
Rohl now interested in Celtic target
Rohl is now focused on life in Austria, and he is said to be interested in a deal for reported Celtic target Gvidas Gineitis. The Torino midfielder has been tipped to be Arne Engels' replacement, with the Belgian midfielder expected to bag a big-money move South.
Celtic are yet to move for Gineitis, who is expected to cost between £12million and £13million, but he is said to remain a possible target in the big to replace Engels. Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto has claimed on social media that Torino are now interested in a move for Gineitis.
That could hurry along the Bhoys' pursuit, but the question is whether they are willing to pay so much money before Engles goes, given there are no guarantees they will get the £25million they are asking for.
West Ham are said to hold serious interest in a move for Engels, but despite bringing in more than £140million this summer, they are yet to reach Celtic's valuation.
Celtic are likely to need two midfielders this summer to properly replace Engels and add sufficient strength. But it seems the club are attempting to keep the Belgian beyond their Champions League qualifiers, which take place on August 18 and 25. From the first two league games, it's already crystal clear that Celtic are going to miss Engels when he goes, and replacing him will be no easy task.
