Daizen Maeda's Japan side will take on Scotland on Saturday evening, and he has spoken about how exciting the occasion is.

A few days ago, the winger touched on how big it is to be playing against his Celtic teammates. He also spoke about the position that he has been playing for the Hoops this campaign, and we could see him being utilised by his national team manager in the same way this evening.

He spoke to Celtic TV again ahead of the game, and said: "Opportunities like this do not come around very often. I think many fans will come to watch the match in Glasgow, including Japanese fans living here. I'm really looking forward to playing in front of them.

"Celtic Park is definitely somewhere I'd like them (the fans) to visit. I often go there with my kids as well, so I think it is a great place.

"Some of my teammates play for Scotland, so I'm looking forward to the match. I think they are motivated, since they have qualified for the World Cup again after a long time.

"But of course, we want to beat them! There is nothing special that I am focusing on; I just want to keep playing the way I always do. If I keep on challenging myself and performing well at Celtic, then I believe the opportunities will come."

Exciting game to come

Maeda has 26 caps for his country and will be hoping for a start in his home city at Hampden. It'll be an exciting game for both sets of fans, and hopefully, a brilliant game will come from it.

Both sides will be eager to get a victory ahead of the World Cup in the summer. Now, it's about winning every international game possible to give you the best hope of performing when it comes to the biggest stage.

The squad that we see now will likely be the one that ends up being taken to America. Of course, there is still a bit to go in the season, and players could still earn their seat on that plane.

There seems to be no way that Maeda will lose his place from now until the summer, but one player who will be keen to win his back is Celtic teammate Reo Hatate. The midfielder hasn't been in great form for the Hoops this season, but recently bounced back, starting games for Celtic once again. If he keeps it up, he could represent his country once again.
