Tomas Cvancara was called out by his national team manager on Tuesday after previous comments he had made about how domestic football was his priority.

The Czech Republic head coach said that 'it is not a priority' for him to 'take a player for whom the national team is not a priority', which felt unnecessary to say, especially when it was assumed the striker wasn't going to get called up anyway.

Now, Cvancara's agent, David Nehoda, has spoken out and hit back at the comments made.

He said:

"The justification for the absence of Tomas Cvancara from the nomination for the Czech national team is entirely misleading and completely taken out of the context of the entire interview on Celtic TV from five weeks ago.

No one from the national team management is or has been in contact with Tomas. Drawing information about the player and his current situation in the club solely from the media strikes me as very strange.

Was Tomas supposed to tell the fans that after three games for Celtic, the national team is a priority for him? WTF."

A good reply from Cvancara's agent, but what now?

Cvancara has done nothing wrong

Cvancara has done nothing wrong, but it seems that as long as the Czech Republic manager is in the job, he may struggle to get a call-up. There was no reason for him to strike out at the Celtic striker, but he did, and now, he and Cvancara will likely be at odds.

His agent makes a fantastic point about him joining Celtic. Cvancara said the right thing, and it was his own personal opinion in the first place. He had every right to say what he did, and he shouldn't feel bad about it.

The player's club should always be their priority. If a national team call-up comes, then great, but you should always be trying to win silverware domestically before focusing on your country. There is no doubt that it is an honour, but club football is key.

Cvancara is now up to two goals in his Celtic career, with the striker netting a penalty at the weekend against Motherwell. He is desperately trying to win a move to the Hoops in the summer, with the striker expressing that he is interested, but he will have to find his form quickly if he wants to turn the loan deal permanent.

Right now, fans may not be over the moon with how he has been doing in a Celtic shirt, but if there's one thing everyone can agree on, he certainly isn't the one in the wrong here.
