Ange Postecoglou left Celtic in the summer of 2023, after winning five trophies in two years, to join Tottenham Hotspur. In the same amount of time, he won only one trophy with Spurs. But it was a significant feat. The Australian ended the London club's 17-year wait for silverware and was sacked just a couple of weeks after that.

Postecoglou left with his head held high though. There have been suggestions linking him with a return to Celtic in the future with Brendan Rodgers' contract running out next summer.

It is unlikely that Postecoglou will be available by that point though. In fact, he is already drawing interest, merely days after being sacked.

As reported by David Ornstein, Al Ahli have made contact with Postecoglou about becoming head coach, if Matthias Jaissle exits. The former Tottenham Hotspur boss is among candidates being considered in the event of a managerial change. Xavi is another option.

Of course, it would be unexpected if Postecoglou joins Al Ahli at this point. So much of his journey has been about making it to top-level European football. Will he leave that, now that he has established himself as a winning coach in the eyes of many?

It would certainly be a move that would raise a few eyebrows, if Postecoglou made it. But then again, considering the money that is in the Saudi Pro League, nothing can and should ever be ruled out.

We can only hope that Postecoglou remains in Europe. He certainly makes the game a lot better. Not just because of the brand of football that he wants his sides to play but also because of the character that he is. The modern game is certainly lacking in both those departments.
