The Celtic fans were not impressed with the club's activity in the winter transfer window. While a number of players left, whether it be on a permanent basis or on loan, only two additions were made to Brendan Rodgers' squad. They are proving to be great signings though and making a positive impact on the team from the off.

We all know what Jota is capable of, having seen it in his first spell in Glasgow. Yes, the Portuguese winger struggled badly at Al-Ittihad and Rennes. But now, back at Celtic, he seems to be finding his form again. He has 3 goals and an assist in 3 Premiership starts for the club since returning.

Jeffrey Schlupp is proving to be a shrewd addition as well. Many feel that he is already the number one left-back in Rodgers' team.

Although Schlupp is only on loan until the end of the season and still a Crystal Palace player, his contract with the Eagles runs out in the summer. That might give Celtic a chance to sign him on a permanent basis.

Confirmed: Celtic planning talks with Premier League player

As reported by The Celtic Way, Rodgers was recently asked whether he had talked to Schlupp about his future. The manager replied:

"I'll have a chat with Jeffrey towards the latter part of the season. It was the case of him coming in and settling and getting to understand how he plays. I think we can all see he has that Premier League physicality and quality.

He's a guy that's a top professional. That's why he's been in over a decade in the Premier League, because you have to look after yourself. You've got to have the right qualities, not only as a player but as a person.

We knew what we were bringing in. I'm really happy for him, because he's settled into the group really well now. Now he has a feeling for how he plays and what the role is.

It gives us two really strong players to finish the season in that position."

So, it looks like the Celtic boss is planning to hold talks with Schlupp towards the end of the season. It will be interesting to see what he wants to do next.

Considering the little football that he played for the Eagles in recent times, it is hard to imagine that Schlupp will be handed an extension by Crystal Palace. And one can only hope that the chance to compete for trophies and play in the Champions League is enough to convince him to sign permanently with Celtic because he can be a very good role player for the Hoops.
