With Nicolas Kuhn set to leave Celtic for Como FC in a €19 million transfer deal, it has become even more important for the Hoops to sign another winger this summer. Will they be satisfied with the recent addition of Benjamin Nygren or aim for one more signing? Well, their hopes might have been raised after a last-minute U-turn.

One of the wingers that Celtic have been linked with is Louie Barry of Aston Villa. It is believed that a £3.5 million deal had been agreed for him to join Hull City this summer.

Things have taken an unexpected twist though. It is one that leaves Barry's future up in the air once again and hands Celtic another chance to try and sign him, if they actually want to do that.

As reported by The Athletic, Barry's proposed move to Hull City from Aston Villa is now on the brink of collapse. That is the situation after concerns were raised over the affordability of the deal.

Celtic transfer saga takes last-minute U-turn and opens door for Barry move

Barry had scored 15 goals in 23 League One appearances last season while on loan at Stockport County. This led to him being called back in the middle of the campaign and then sent to Hull City on a temporary basis.

Barry was out injured during his loan spell at Hull City and only made a handful of appearances for the club. But that did not stop them from trying to sign him on a permanent basis. Unfortunately, despite coming close, it looks like those plans might now be off.

It does open up a window of opportunity for a club like Celtic. The Hoops were heavily linked with a move for Barry in January but it did not materialise. Could it change this time around?

Barry spent most of his youth career at West Brom before a brief stint at Barcelona. After that, he joined Aston Villa. He has spent time out on loan at many clubs but never managed to establish himself at the senior level for his parent club. It might be time for a change of scenery. Will Celtic Park be his next destination now that a move to Hull City seems to be off? We will find out eventually.
