Celtic will need to get even more active than they have already been this summer. That is because it looks like a deal has been agreed for Nicolas Kuhn to join Serie A side Como FC. The German winger had been linked with a variety of teams in recent weeks, and his exit was always expected. Now, it appears that he will be playing his football in Italy moving forward.
Of course, one cannot overlook how important Kuhn was to this Celtic team, despite his shaky form in the second half of last season. The club will need to go out and find a proper replacement for him.
The good news is, they are set to receive a €19 million transfer fee out of Kuhn's departure. Could they end up investing the majority of it on bringing in his replacement?
Back in April, CeltsAreHere had put together a list of La Liga players that Celtic should target. One of the names on that list was that of Diego Lopez, currently playing for Valencia in the Spanish top flight.
Celtic tipped to sign €15 million-rated Valencia winger
Lopez has been a standout player for Valencia. It is believed that it would take a transfer fee in the region of ̇€15 million to sign him from the La Liga side.
That is lower than what Celtic will be receiving from Kuhn's exit. Despite that, that is a significant figure for the Hoops. It remains to be seen if they are ready to make a move of that magnitude, if not for Lopez then some other player.
Signing a winger has to have gone to the priority list after news broke of Kuhn's impending exit. At this point, we would also like to wish him the best in his next adventure and thank him for his contributions to the club.
