Time sure does fly, and fast. It feels like yesterday that everybody was criticising how poorly Celtic had mismanaged their business in the summer transfer window. Now, we are merely days away from the winter one. In many ways, it is a chance for the club to put things right. The campaign has been a disaster so far, but fortunately, nobody has been able to run away in the title race. If they can make the right additions next month, things can be salvaged.

One area that is in clear need of reinforcement is striker. Kyogo left a year ago and was not replaced then and there. Instead of doing that in the following summer window, the club then sanctioned the departure of Adam Idah as well.

This has left Celtic light on options and quality up top. Johnny Kenny is not good enough. And perhaps the same is true for Kelechi Iheanacho as well, who has scored just once from open play in ten appearances for the club since arriving as a free agent. Callum Osmand showed promise but is out injured.

So, there have been some rumours that have linked Kyogo with a return to Celtic. Chris Sutton, who knows a thing or two about scoring goals for the Hoops, appears to be backing that idea.

Sutton wrote in his column in the Daily Record regarding the Kyogo to Celtic situation:

"It’s clear he’s lacking in confidence and perhaps a shadow of the player he was for most of his time in Scotland, while some people might say there were signs of decline in his final six months at Parkhead.

But for all that, I’d still take him back in a heartbeat.

Because the simple fact is, he would still be far better than anything Celtic have right now."

By now, Kyogo must know that leaving Celtic was an error on his part. The want to play at the next World Cup was said to be a factor. Those chances have evaporated since his exit though.

He flopped at Rennes and was transferred again after just half-a-season in France. And his spell at Birmingham City is not going much better, as he has scored just once since joining the English club, and is struggling for minutes.

Of course, there would be some concerns regarding a move for Kyogo if you are a Celtic fan. Firstly, he looks like a shadow of the player who scored 34 goals in a single season for the Hoops. A lot of strikers depend on confidence, and his must be at rock bottom right now. So, would be the right step to bring him back at this point in time.

Obviously, there is something to Sutton's argument as well. He is proven in Scotland. We know what he can do in big games. And even right now, he might be better than what is available at Celtic. Also, there is the chance that he could rediscover his confidence back at his old stomping grounds.
