Pretty much everybody who keeps up with the goings on at Celtic has questioned the club's transfer activity in the recent summer window. Admittedly, it looks like the Hoops might have made a pretty good move when it comes to Sebastian Tounekti. And Benjamin Nygren has been decent as well, although there are some question marks over the midfield combination and how he fits with Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate in the same lineup.

But other than those two, no new summer arrival has exactly impressed for Celtic so far this season. Not even Kieran Tierney.

One of the additions that Celtic made this summer is Michel-Ange Balikwisha. He made his debut against the Rangers at Ibrox and then started the following game against Kilmarnock as well.

So far, he has left Celtic fans unconvinced about his abilities though. Even Chris Sutton does not seem to be impressed with what he has seen from the Belgian winger so far, as he has looked reluctant to take his man on and far too happy to play it safe. You cannot do that if you are trying to make it at Parkhead.

Sutton wrote in his column in the Daily Record when talking about Balikwisha:

"He doesn’t look like he has blistering pace or is too willing to take on his man. I found that a bit strange in the Rangers game when he was up against 33-year-old James Tavernier and there was a similar reluctance to do so on the other flank at Kilmarnock.

He just seemed to want to play safe, going backwards rather than driving towards goal.

That may come. I’ve seen suggestions he’s more of a no.10, but that’s not what he was brought in to do."

Well, most people would feel that we are being too hasty to reach conclusions about the Belgian winger. And that is very fair. He has played only two games after making a move to a completely different league. It is understandable that he would take some time to fit in. So did Nicolas Kuhn.

That being said, it is far too easy to get lost in the shuffle at a club like Celtic. The biggest worry might be the lack of attributes that he has shown so far that are needed to succeed as a winger at Parkhead.

Well, it would not be the first time that the recruitment team have got a signing wrong in recent years. Let's just hope that Balikwisha unlocks a level to his game that we have not seen so far.
