Ange Postecoglou was a grand success at Celtic. And even though things did not go exactly according to plan at Tottenham Hotspur, he did end their 18-year wait for silverware by winning the Europa League and will forever be in their history books as a result. Despite that, the Australian was sacked at the end of last season but he has not been without a job for long, being appointed by Nottingham Forest as Nuno Espirito Santo's successor.

It is going to be a tough transition though. Santo is known for his pragmatic brand of football, while Postecoglou likes his teams to play with a certain flair. It is hard to get right, especially if you arrive in the middle of the season and there is no opportunity to bring in new players for the foreseeable future.

Postecoglou has made the worst possible start to his time at Nottingham Forest. He lost his debut game 3-0 to Arsenal. While a loss, that was not a shock to anyone. But the 3-2 defeat at the hands of Championship side, Swansea City, to be eliminated from the League Cup has raised a lot of questions.

Postecoglou could look to bring in some familiar faces in the January window. And Alistair Johnston has been tipped to leave Celtic to reunite with his former boss at Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest has been suggested as a possible destination for Johnston. As reported by Glasgow World, Kevin Kilbane said on the Park the Bus podcast:

"You could see it happening. Whether it’s (Nottingham) Forest, I could see him maybe somewhere like Everton or somewhere like that."

Johnston signed for Celtic while Postecoglou was still the manager of the club, and the Australian immediately placed him as a starter. Josip Juranovic would leave later in the window to join Union Berlin.

Johnston has remained a starter for Celtic since then, when fit and available. Unsurprisingly, he has been linked with a move away from the club for quite a while too. Could he end up in the Premier League someday? Who knows? It is certainly something that cannot be ruled out even though he is happy at Parkhead.
