It was not easy but Celtic managed to get the job done. A beautiful late goal from Reo Hatate was enough to seal the win and the three points away at the Pittodrie Stadium. That result might spell the end of Aberdeen's title challenge with Jimmy Thelin's side struggling for points right now. They are now seven points adrift and have played a game more than the Hoops as well.
If the Rangers win their game in hand, they will be just one point behind Aberdeen. So, while the idea of the Ibrox club finishing third was an entertaining one, it looks like that is not going to be the case.
Aberdeen did not make it easy for Celtic though. It was clear to see why the Rangers lost at the Pittodrie Stadium not too long ago. But fortunately, the Hoops had enough quality to get a tough result under tough circumstances.
Chris Sutton has given his reaction to the result. He wrote on X after the game:
"Enormous win for Celtic in wild conditions. Celtic had to earn it. Aberdeen gave it their all and pushed them all the way. Hatate with a stunning winner. Taylor great assist. Carter-Vickers a giant at the back"

Celtic fans will be very happy with the result. And while it is just early December, it will be a major surprise if Brendan Rodgers' side do not go on and win the league title comfortably from this position.
That being said, we did see Celtic slip up and let slip a big lead last season, only to pull it back later on and go on to win the league. So, they must be careful and not get complacent. Contrary to popular belief around Europe, there are no easy games at this level.
Celtic have to be considered favourites moving forward though. And hopefully, this will also allow them to rest players occasionally in domestic games, and have them fresh for the remaining Champions League matches, as they aim to make it to the next phase of the competition.
