One issue that Celtic have faced in recent years is struggling to provide a pathway for its youngsters to come through the academy ranks and make it into the senior team. The last ones to make that jump and become first-team starters were Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney. The likes of Mikey Johnston, Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh and others have had their roles but never ended up becoming key players. Lately, Colby Donovan has gotten chances amid the side's injury problems.

Overall, though, it is one area where Celtic need to improve. On the other hand, one of their players, who left the club on a free transfer, having never made a senior appearance for the club, has now joined Chelsea out of nowhere.

It has to go down as one of the most unexpected signings in recent Chelsea history. They have announced the arrival of centre-back Justin Osagie from Peterborough United.

The thing is, it is not just at Celtic where Osagie failed to make his mark. He could not get it done at Peterborough United either and never played a game for them.

Osagie was sent on loan to Peterborough Sports, who currently play in the sixth tier of English football. He made three appearances for them.

So, instead of this being a miss for Celtic, it feels more like a headscratcher of a signing from Chelsea. One can only wonder what the plan is on their part.

Of course, Chelsea have made a lot of questionable signings in recent times. That is why despite spending more than a billion since their change in ownership, they are farther from competing for top honours than they were on the takeover happened. So, let's see how this move for Osagie ends up going.
