For Celtic, the focus this summer has to be on making the right additions to improve Brendan Rodgers' squad while also parting ways with players who do not have a future at Parkhead. There is one signing that we already know about. Kieren Tierney will join as a free agent when his Arsenal contract runs out. Hopefully, more such top-quality signings will be made.
On the other hand, Celtic have quite a few players they need to say goodbye to. But in one such case, it looks like some of their plans have been derailed.
It is believed that Celtic are ready to part ways with Luis Palma this summer. He is currently on loan at Olympiacos, who have a €4 million buyout clause included in the deal. But as it turns out, the Honduran winger does not appear to have a long-term future with the Greek club either.
As reported by SDNA, it will be difficult for Jose Luis Mendilibar to change his mind in the remaining games for Olympiacos' roster. The coach has already made his decisions, as he stated on Cosmote TV's camera, about which players he counts on for the new season and which ones he doesn't. Luis Palma has not impressed and Celtic also believe that it is unlikely that the Greek club will proceed with activating his buyout option.
Celtic handed worrying €4 million transfer news
So, it looks like Olympiacos will pass on the chance to sign Palma on a permanent basis. He has scored and assisted once each for them since arriving on loan in the winter.
So, it looks like Palma will be back at Celtic come the summer. But he does not appear to have a long-term future there either.
Recent rumours have suggested that Celtic are intent on recouping as much of the transfer fee they shelled out to sign him as well. He has been linked with a move to the MLS lately.
