Signing a striker has to be atop Celtic's transfer wishlist in the upcoming January window. The Hoops have lost players like Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah, and have not replaced them. On top of that, Callum Osmand has picked up a long-term injury due to which he has undergone surgery and won't be back anytime soon. Kelechi Iheanacho is also just closing in on a return after being out injured for the past couple of months.

That all has resulted in Celtic appearing toothless going forward in a number of games. The Hoops need someone who will be scoring goals on a consistent basis.

One of the players they have been linked with is Louis Munteanu. And the Romanian international striker looks set to be available for a bargain fee in the winter after CFR Cluj failed to attract bids in the region of €20 million in the summer.

As reported by digisport, Celtic wanted Munteanu in the summer. Now the club's bosses have rekindled their interest in the Romanian international.

Munteanu is a long-term target for Celtic. So, it looks like the club are convinced that he is the right man to lead the line for them. Of course, that is no guarantee that he will be good enough.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha is also someone who had been linked with Celtic for years before he eventually made the move to Parkhead. And since his arrival, he has been completely underwhelming in the green-and-white jersey.

Munteanu was phenomenal in the previous campaign for CFR Cluj, scoring 25 goals. He seemed keen on a move away in the summer though, which he did not get. And that seems to have affected his performances, with him just scoring three times in 21 appearances in the ongoing campaign.

Now, those are not numbers that should convince a club to shell out €10 million. Celtic would be taking a massive risk if they sign Munteanu right now, based on his current form.
