Well, it is no secret that Celtic love a good bargain deal. In recent years, we have seen them bring in high-profile free agents on more than one occasion. Some names that come to mind immediately in this regard are Kieran Tierney, Kelechi Iheanacho, Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Mooy. Could the Hoops add to the list soon?

Schmeichel is someone who could be playing his last season of football at Celtic. His form has dipped considerably and a large section of the fanbase believes that Viljami Sinisalo should be starting ahead of him.

So far, Brendan Rodgers has been reluctant to drop his most experienced player despite his shaky form. But it is hard to imagine that the club will hand Schmeichel an extension, with his current deal running out next summer.

For years, Celtic fans have hoped for a long-term solution in goal. But it looks like the club might be eyeing another short-term fix.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, four goalkeepers are being watched by Celtic. Nick Pope of Newcastle United is one of them as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

There is no doubt that Pope is a very good goalkeeper. He has been a regular part of Newcastle United's team since joining the club. He has also made ten appearances for the England national team.

That being said, his current contract is set to run out at the end of the season. Also, he is 33 years old now. So, sooner or later, Newcastle United will be looking to bring in someone younger to replace him.

Of course, Celtic have shown that they have no problem having veteran goalkeepers. Before Schmeichel, they had Joe Hart between the posts. And they even brought back Fraser Forster on loan not too long ago.
