Celtic will have to make a real splash in the January transfer window to get the fans back on their side. The season had not been anything special to begin with but Martin O'Neill's interim spell had raised hopes that the club were headed for a positive campaign. Things have gone completely south since the board's decision to part with the Northern Irishman before an important run of games and bring in the inexperienced Wilfried Nancy as his replacement.
Nancy has looked nowhere near the mark since coming in. He has lost all four of his games in charge so far and most of the fans would be happy if he were shown the exit door.
Unfortunately, that would mean that the board would be admitting that the decision to appoint Nancy was a blunder to begin with. And it looks like they are to keen to do that just yet.
If they are to have any hope of Nancy turning it around, they would need to back him in the winter window. And it appears that one of their former players and an absolute fan favourite, is on their radar for a blockbuster return.
Celtic want to bring back fan favourite in January
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have registered their interest in re-signing Kyogo in January. The Birmingham City striker is on the radar of his former team.
Kyogo left Celtic earlier this year. Since then, it has been a nightmare for him. He never found his place at Rennes and ended up leaving in the summer to join Birmingham City. The Japanese international has not done much better in England either, scoring just once for them in 21 appearances. Unsurprisingly, he has not started a league game for them since early October.
So, Kyogo might be in need of a change of scenery again. Or perhaps he needs to return to familiar surroundings. Celtic do have a habit of bringing back former players. Jota and Kieran Tierney are two prime examples. Could the Japanese striker be next?
