Following their win at Hampden Park against St Johnstone, Celtic find themselves on the verge of another domestic treble. If successful, this would be their sixth one in nine seasons. That is a remarkable feat for any club. In the final, standing in their way will be Aberdeen, who got the better of Hearts in the other semi-final.
Brendan Rodgers already has two trebles to his name and will be looking to make history with a third the next time Celtic take to the Hampden Park pitch. Of course, one cannot overlook his hand in the Hoops' 2018/19 treble as well although it was Neil Lennon, who finished the job that time around.
It would be a mistake to overlook Aberdeen heading into the final though. Jimmy Thelin's side had looked like title contenders at the start of the campaign and while their form faded away a bit, they still are a team capable of causing an upset.
On the other hand, Dave Cormack feels that the Dons could fill 25,000 seats at Hampden Park in the final. As reported by the Daily Record, the Aberdeen chairman said:
"Yes, 100%. Listen, if today's game was played at Peterhead, it would have been the opposite. We'd have had 25,000 fans."
Celtic vs Aberdeen Scottish Cup final statement made by Dave Cormack
It is worth pointing out that Aberdeen had less than 14,000 fans in attendance for the Scottish Cup semi-final against Hearts. That might have been because of the early Hampden Park kick-off time though.
Also, a final is a completely different occasion altogether, especially against Celtic. It has been 35 years since Aberdeen last lifted the Scottish Cup.
That is not something that Celtic will be concerned with though. They have to have just one solitary focus between now and the end of the season. That is to win the treble. First up is the upcoming game against Dundee United at Tannadice Park. Even a point on the day would be enough to seal their fourth-straight league title. Then, there is the Glasgow Derby at Ibrox.
