Celtic are said to have a genuine chance to land a winger they are said to be interested in this summer. The Bhoys need a new wideman this summer, especially after losing Daizen Maeda, and it looks as though they could be priced out of a deal to sign Haissem Hassan.

The Real Oviedo winger is expected to cost more than £10million this summer, and that could be more than the Hoops are willing to pay, especially after paying £10.2million to sign striker Kasper Hogh.

Celtic know they are going to have to spend a big sum overall this summer, but it would be a surprise if they spent more than £10million on more than two players, given their transfer model. One of those is Hogh, and it's likely the other will be whoever they decide is a good fit to replace Arne Engels.

That could mean Celtic look elsewhere from Hassan amid their search for a new winger, and there seems to be a genuine target in Matteo Cancellieri, but he will come no cheaper.

Celtic could get relatively easy Cancellieri deal

Celtic have been struggling to sign players all summer, be it because of asking prices or something else, and we have heard plenty of excuses from club chiefs.

But a deal to sign Cancellieri should be very manageable, according to a report from LazioChannel, who say Celtic hold concrete interest in the winger. It's claimed Lazio may have to sell players if they want to spend money this summer, and the winger would be the most logical sale.

Cancellieri is liked by Lazio fans, but he is in the last year of his contract, which makes Lazio vulnerable to losing him for free next summer, or perhaps for a cheap departure in January.

A sale is likely in the absence of a new contract, which doesn't seem to be in the works currently, but Lazio value Cancellieri at €15million, which is likely more than Celtic are willing to pay, especially with Hassan carrying a cheaper asking price.

That asking price converts to around £12.8million, and that would be another big investment for Celtic this summer. The more questionable aspect is that the 24-year-old only scored four and assisted twice last season, and his stats overall throughout his career do not paint him as a particularly productive winger.

He is still young, but that's a big asking price for a player who hasn't exactly been consistent, albeit in a top league in Serie A.
