Celtic are closing in on another domestic treble. After that, the focus will turn towards strengthening further in the summer, to continue performing at the highest level in Scotland and with an aim to improve in the Champions League as well. On the other hand, it looks like the Rangers' long-awaited takeover by a consortium involving the San Francisco 49ers is not far away either.

If or when that happens, the club are expected to look to bring in a new manager. Barry Ferguson has done a decent job for them, to be honest, but it looks like they are eyeing a high-profile appointment as manager, as they look to catch up with Celtic.

Jose Mourinho is someone who has been linked with the Rangers job in recent times. But would the iconic Portuguese manager be open to taking it?

As reported by TEAMtalk, Mourinho would be open to taking the Rangers job. But that is if the 49ers promise to back him with new additions.

Celtic learn about Jose Mourinho's stance on joining Rangers as manager

It will be interesting to see who the Rangers end up appointing as their next manager, if they do decide to part ways with Ferguson. Of course, Celtic fans won't exactly be worried about the situation. They are in a strong enough position and can push further, if need be.

Also, it is worth pointing out that the Rangers are a club that has been posting big losses for a long time now. Even if the takeover does end up going through, how much further would the American consortium be open to pushing when it comes to financial investment into the squad?

For now, there is not much for Celtic to worry about. Whether it is Mourinho, Ferguson, Steven Gerrard or somebody else in the Rangers dugout next season, they should be able to deal with it.
