Celtic had a tough weekend as they lost against St Johnstone away at McDiarmid Park. It was a result that left fans disappointed. After all, the opposition are bottom of the Premiership, while the Hoops have been the league leaders from the get-go. Yet, on the day, they could not find a way to score against the second-worst defence in the Scottish top flight.
One player who faced a ton of criticism on the day was Nicolas Kuhn. The German winger has been off colour for quite some time now and we have not seen the best of him since the tie against Bayern Munich.
But Kuhn is not the only player who has been struggling as of late. There are plenty others who look like they have mentally checked out this season. Reo Hatate might fall under that category.
Celtic have been urged to drop Reo Hatate. As reported by Football FanCast, he lost the ball on 20 occasions from his 82 touches against St Johnstone in Perth, effectively losing the ball once every four touches.
Celtic told to drop player who was worse than Nicolas Kuhn
We all know what Hatate is capable of on his day. But we have rarely seen that in recent times. Hatate is another player who could be on his way out in the summer.
The issue with playing Hatate constantly is the fact that Celtic have other good options in the middle of the park. Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan could have done a decent job if they started. But somehow, the Japanese international ended up playing out the entire game.
Now, to be fair to Hatate, he does have a moment of magic in him. He came closest to scoring for Celtic on the day. But overall, he was nowhere near the mark against St Johnstone and needs to raise his performance levels if he wants to remain a starter.
