Expect the upcoming summer transfer window to be a busy period for Celtic, both in terms of incomings and departures. Of course, most of the fans' focus at this point is on potential signings, as they want to see the club improve Brendan Rodgers' squad and make another run to the knockout phase of the Champions League. But at the same time, there are those who could be looking towards the Parkhead exit door.
Quite a few of Celtic's best players have struggled for form lately, as their performance levels have slipped since the turn of the year. But nobody's has dipped lower than that of Nicolas Kuhn.
In the first half of the season, Kuhn was Celtic's best player by a country mile. He looked unstoppable at times and scored in the Champions League against Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, and also in the League Cup final against the Rangers.
Over the last few months, Kuhn has struggled to replicate that form, though. He suddenly looks like a player completely devoid of confidence and a lot of Celtic fans are now open to the idea of the German winger leaving in the summer, something that they wanted to avoid at all costs even a couple months back.
Celtic told to reject £10 million bid for key player
Kuhn's transfer value has certainly dropped over the last few months. But still, Celtic cannot entertain offers in the region of £10 million for him.
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Gordon Dalziel said while speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard:
"I think Kuhn has set the bar so high.
“We had him, the first part of the season, if he had kept that up, then he would have been Player of the Year, then all of a sudden, Jota has come back into the building and, all of a sudden, Kuhn has taken that dip.
“He still has bags and bags of ability. I don’t think, if you quote this guy, and we aren’t quoting him at £20 million, you can’t just go ‘we will take £10 million for him’. That’s not good business."
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Kuhn. Rodgers certainly still rates him highly. That is why, he has continued to start the German winger, even though he has looked out of form for a while. That might change this weekend though, after he was taken off at half-time in the last match.
